Final Design

The LifePump is designed to provide large communities living in underserved areas with clean water. Unlike the LifeStraw it can be used among a few families. The LifeStraw is distributed one per person, whereas, the LifePump can be distributed among a few families reducing the cost per person. It uses a similar filtration system as the LifeStraw. The filter is incased in a box for protection and when it needs to be changed the filter itself can be removed and replaced with a new one. Non-toxic PVC tubes take in dirty water and let out clean filtered water. The pump attached to the filter helps to suck in the water, the pressure applied to the pump will suck in the water and push it through the filter. Two valves at attached at the beginning of the pump to prevent dirty water mixing with clean water and also to prevent back flow of water into the foot pump. The water then enters into a container for storage.
